OUR STORY
Living Stone Church has its roots in the Living Stone Church, a revival church established in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1980 in the city of Kinshasa.
In 2008, as one of the pastors of the community, I came to America and lived in Rushville, Illinois. In 2010, I moved to Champaign and joined the French Ministry of Stone Creek Church on Race Street in Urbana, Illinois, serving as one of the assistant pastors with the French ministry.
In 2014, I moved to Waterloo, Iowa, and in February of that year, we started a small prayer group at 500 W. Dale Street, Apt 303. Two months later, the group moved to 810 W. Dale Street, Waterloo, IA. As the number of members continued to grow, we began searching for a suitable place of worship and service.
During this time, we met Pastor Tim Platt of River Edge Christian Church, who graciously shared their building with us, allowing us to hold our worship services on Sunday afternoons. We continue to express our deep gratitude to Pastor Tim Platt for his generosity and support.
In May 2016, we moved our services to a new location at 722 Water Street, Suite 301. Due to the growth of the church, we expanded our lease to include part of Suite 303 in 2017, and later the remaining portion in 2021.
In time, our journey led us to our own building, formerly the Sons of Jacob synagogue. As a Christian church, we recognize the rich heritage we have received from the Jewish people through the Old Testament, which gives us the knowledge of the True and Living God, YHWH. We believe this sacred space continues to be a blessed place for worship and service to God by His grace.
Gathering in this sanctuary, we honor the presence of the True and Living God, our Lord Jesus Christ, and dedicate this house of worship to His glory and honor.
